Introduction

Artefact Review is a biannual journal showcasing new voices in design, architecture, and cultural criticism. It features long-form essays, interviews, and visual work. The project involved creating a refreshed layout and design system to give the journal more rhythm and clarity.

Problem

The existing format lacked consistency, making it harder for readers to engage with long articles and photo essays. As the publication grew, its layout became fragmented. Artefact needed a stronger system to support its diverse content.

Solution

We redesigned the full layout using clear grids, thoughtful typography, and flexible styles. This brought balance between text and imagery. The new system gave Artefact Review a polished identity while supporting future growth.
